Pastoral Letter

Pastoral Letter – 6th September

My Dear Friends

‘Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.’
Matthew 18:19-20

I cannot believe that we are now in September, that the year is rolling on.  It is now a year since we moved into the Vicarage in preparation for my induction at the beginning of October.  We will be celebrating our harvest festivals at the end of the month in Leyburn and at the beginning of October in Bellerby.  As the year moves on and the seasons change we are reminded of the constancy of the God who is our creator.

During this time the Bishop has also said that we should now undertake our APCMs, delayed from April.  At these meetings we will need to elect our Churchwardens, members of the PCC and other office holders.  Our work as a church is dependent on people undertaking this important roles and we are grateful to all those people who are already doing these jobs and helping to support me and the work of the churches.  We will have vacancies in both churches this year so please give prayerful consideration about how we can ensure these roles are filled in these difficult times.  As the Vicar I need the support and help of people willing to take on these roles – I cannot do these things alone.  These are difficult and challenging times but we need to work together to continue to build God’s kingdom here on earth, as we work as a community together and God here among us.

I pray that we may find our way through this time of strangeness and grow stronger in faith and love for our Lord Jesus Christ who leads us to God.

With many prayers and blessings for each of you.

Yours in Christ, Rev’d Stephen
