Pastoral Letter

Pastoral Letter – 18th July

My Dear Friends

‘For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the children of God;’
Romans 8:19

We had our first Sunday service back in church last week at St John’s in Bellerby and it was lovely to see people in church and for us to be able to worship together.  It was rather strange, not being able to do things the same as always but we were there to worship God.  This week we are at St Matthew’s, Leyburn for our service and I look forward to being there with those people who feel able to come along.  We will be videoing the service as well so those who aren’t in church can worship online.  The PCC’s are meeting this week to discuss how we proceed over the next couple of months, bearing in mind that I have a weeks holiday booked at the beginning of August and we will let people know the plans as soon as possible.  We will certainly be having a service in St John’s next Sunday.

For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the children of God;

This Sunday is Rural Church Sunday, so we think about what it means to live and work and to be God’s Church in this beautiful part of the world.  The church has always, and continues, to play a vital part in the life of rural communities and as we move forward we want to continue and develop this.  As St Paul says in Romans, all of God’s creation is waiting for the coming of the Kingdom of heaven here on earth and then Gods plan will be fulfilled.  What part do we play in this?

Please be assured of my continuing prayers as life seems to be getting busier again as we move into the next stage of the coronavirus – I know many people continue to feel anxious and that is understandable.

With many prayers and blessings.

Yours in Christ,

Rev’d Stephen
